Getting the frames out of the your hive can be a bit tricky, especially that first one. The flat end of this tool works great for separating boxes and frames, while the hooked end is used as a lever to lift the frames up and out. It can also be used to remove the frames from your section honey supers or to pull top bars straight up and out when harvesting honey from top bar Warré or octagonal hives. It does not work well for scraping very hard propolis from hive parts because it can easily dig into the wood. The 90-degree end of the 10-inch hive tool should be used for doing that.
